Malaysia’s Petronas is keen to team up with Norwegian oil and gas companies on deep-water exploration, newly appointed chief executive Shamsul Azhar Abbas said.
"Recently Petronas acquired six new exploration blocks in Greenland from UK's Cairn Energy plc with the aim of strengthening its presence in a frontier area of exploration.
"It is my hope that we will be able to work together with Norwegian oil and gas companies to leverage on their expertise," Bernama news agency cited Shamsul as saying at the Norway Business Seminar in Malaysia yesterday.
The Universiti of Teknologi Petronas (UTP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Universiti of Stavanger and Bergen to cooperate in seven projects related to the capture and storage of carbon dioxide, as well as applications of artificial neural networks in the field of energy at the seminar yesterday.
