The Executive Master of Finance & Control of Energy Industry (EMFC-EI) programme prepares the participants for senior financial professional positions within the energy industry and for the challenges of managing an energy business in a dynamic but – in terms of regulatory requirements – complex internal context.  

After completion of the programme the participant will:

• Be able to produce, analyze and combine financial information for high-level decision-making processes.

• Have the knowledge and skills to effectively control the management of any organisation in the industry.

• Be fully equipped to pro-actively initiate and supervise the implementation of sophisticated and state-of-the-art financial and management control systems.
   

EMFC-EI graduates will receive the internationally acknowledged degree of Executive Master of Finance & Control of Energy Industry. You will also have the option to enter for the Dutch Registered Controllers exam (RC) and have the opportunity to take the CMA (Certified Management Accountant) exam.

At whom is the EMFC-EI master targeted?

You have an academic background and you have been working for a multinational oil & gas company or in the energy industry for a minimum 5 years in a financial job. Typically, supporting employers will value you as a ‘high potential’.  

The EMFC-EI is geared to other programmes. Should you have completed a post-master programme in finance and control (e.g. Chartered Controller Programme or Certified Public Accountant), you will be exempted from certain modules of the programme.
 

Which topics are addressed during this executive master?

In all, the EMFC-EI consists of twelve modules, referred to as “competence areas”. Each 2-week session will cover two modules. The programme will be concluded with a thesis project, which will require integration of all acquired competences and skills

Which experts do you get a chance to exchange views with during this training?

The programme is aimed at a perfect balance between practical business experience and academic knowledge. PricewaterhouseCoopers provides lecturers with direct industry knowledge. The University of Groningen will accredit the EMFC-EI and provides lecturers focusing on the academic aspects. EDI, which implements the overall organisation of the programme, puts its network of industry experts to use and ensures quality during the whole project.

Autumn 2010

Location
Several EMFC-EI sessions will take place at ’the Castle’ (het Kasteel) in Groningen. Het Kasteel is an impressive monument close to Groningen city centre. It was built around 1900 on top of the old city walls and renovated in 2000. Het Kasteel is now a multifunctional congress- and conference centre and an ideal location for business meeting. Two sessions will take place at international locations and may include energy industry hubs such as Houston (USA), Abu Dahbi (United Arab Emirates) and Dammam City (Saudi Arabia).

Study load
The EMFC-EI degree is earned on the basis of successful completion of the 24-month programme. In addition to the 60 course days of the sessions, substantial study load of private study will be required. During the off-campus periods you will stay in contact with lecturers, thesis coaches and participants via Internet and e-mail, while working on assignments and your thesis project. The on-off campus modular structure of this Executive Master programme allows you to maintain your home base and professional job while working towards and internationally recognised degree.

Investment
The tuition fee for the entire programme is €42.500. This amount covers coffee breaks, lunches, and dinners, but excludes literature (approximately €3.000), examination fees (approximately €1.000), lodging and travel expenses. Payment is required annually in advance, reimbursements only being made under very specific circumstances.
