EDI already has organized several in-company training programmes especially made for Gazprom, such as courses on dispatching and underground gas storage. A completely new programme is a tailor-made course on Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) that recently took place. 15 Gazprom managers came to EDI's headquarters in Groningen, to enjoy the 1-week training programme. The HSE course started with a general introduction of HSE in the gas industry, followed by issues such as risk analyses, environmental aspects of gas transmission, occupational safety, HSE off shore and near shore, HSE management systems and new developments. The underground gas storage location of Shell in Norg (the Netherlands) was visited as well as the famous building of N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie. A special element of the programme was a visit to Mr Jacques Wallage, Mayor of Groningen EDI organized. The participants were welcomed in the city hall, where they were greeted with by the Mayor. He told them about the history of the relationship between Russian and the Netherlands and of the special bond Groningen has with Moermansk. In exchange a Gazprom representative spoke highly of the Netherlands, about EDI and about their stay.
