In the course of 2008 EDI's current president Mr George H.B. Verberg asked the Governing Board of EDI to enable him to resign as President as per 1 January 2009.

EDI is pleased and proud to inform you that its Board has succeeded in finding an excellent successor in the person of Professor Dr. Catrinus Jepma (University of Groningen). Catrinus Jepma has been making a very successful career in the field of economics of energy (in particular the gas industry) and environment.

Prof. Dr. Jepma will be assisted by Mr Rob Badoux, who has a long experience in the gas industry. As Vice-President of EDI he will consolidate the rich business experience of the gas industry within EDI, whilst continuing his functions in international gas organisations; he serves, a.o. as secretary of one of the work groups of the International Gas Union and as secretary of the International Gas Union Research Conference (IGRC).

Mrs Denisa Kasova, who since 1 January 2008 has been joining EDI as operational director, has demonstrated her effective skills in managing the processes required in order for EDI to become a leading and efficient Business School for the energy industry. Both the Board of EDI and I are happy that she will continue to serve EDI as Managing Director.

George Verberg states: "With the combination of such an excellent top-team and our very enthusiastic and capable employees I am convinced that we have set the scene to further develop EDI and to strengthen its position as a leading energy business school. On behalf of EDI I am also proud to be able to continue to cooperate with our strong strategic partners, i.e. N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie, GasTerra B.V, OAO Gazprom, Shell, RWE and the University of Groningen, and our associated partners Electrabel, Essent and DONG Energy.
