On October 30, Energy Delta Institute (EDI), international energy business school, will assign the first EDI Hip de Vries Award. This award will be given to students who have shown exceptional capabilities in the execution of their final thesis. EDI is very pleased with the high quality of the nominated students.
Since 2006, Energy Delta Institute, Hanze University Groningen, the Hip de Vries Foundation and external experts have worked together to assign the Hip de Vries award. However, this is the first year that the price will be awarded. Two graduation projects are nominated.
The first research project is written by Erwin Loonen en Ruben Bliek, who wrote about the financial economic consequences of several investment options for Friesland Campina Leeuwarden. The other nomination, Jos Mulder and Rik Winters, have done research on the design for Lean Manufacturing by Cape Gate Fence & Fire Works Ltd. in South Africa.
The EDI Hip de Vries award is an accolade to Mr Hip (Hilbert) de Vries, who was the founding father of the Technical Business Management course at Hanze Polytechnic Groningen. Mr de Vries wanted to improve the quality of education and was searching for a discipline that would concentrate on natural gas and energy in Groningen.
Nowadays, Energy Delta Institute forms the initiative which Hip envisioned. By offering the EDI Hip de Vries Award, the opportunity is given the students to develop their skills even further and to maintain the quality of the course.
