Autumn has begun and so have the training programmes from EDI, starting with the programme on the Dutch value chain in September. Last week no less than four programmes were organised, amongst which EDI latest showpiece: the Master Class Developments on LNG. This master class provides insight into characteristics and developments of LNG markets in combination with aspects of commercialization, operations and shipping. Key lecturer Jean Vermeire and lecturers Chris Evans and Tony Acton were commonly referred to as "the golden trio", highly appreciated for their expertise, didactical skills and the passion that could be heard in their lectures. According to the participants (a.o. from RWE, Gasunie and the Port of Rotterdam ) this first edition of EDI's programme on LNG was a big success.
With participants from a.o. Rasgas (Qatar), Gazprom, Gasunie, TNK-BP and POGC (Poland) the first part of the Large Energy Projects Course (LEPC) started in the same week. Without exception all participants highly evaluated the well-balanced programme and all lecturers, with special appreciation for Tony Hanna from Shell: "the experts gave us an enormous base of experience from their business life - the programme was very valuable and great fun". The second part of the LEPC will be organised in Essen , Germany from 16 till 21 November.
The Underground Gas Storage Course again proved to be a big hit. Amongst the participants (from e.g. Iberdrola, Essent, Gasunie, Statoil, BEB and Shell) were also five people from the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation and the Millennium Challenge Georgia Fund; it was the first time EDI received participants from this country. Georgia is planning to build an underground gas storage facility, hence the reason to join the UGSC.
For Gasunie EDI organised the first session of a tailor-made programme "Gasunie 2012". Gasunie finds itself in a transition process from a monopolistically managed transportation company to an international gas-infrastructure company. This requires a change in behaviour, knowledge and skills from the Gasunie staff, for which EDI developed a training programme. This programme will be joined by a total of 120 employees, divided into groups of about 12 persons. The first session was highly appreciated, lead by lecturers who knew how to alternate humour with brilliant expertise. Especially for this programme, EDI had selected a unique location in the Groningen countryside.
At this very moment the 6th edition of EDI's successful International Gas Value Chain course is taking place with no less than 19 participants, from a.o. Gazprom, Gasunie, GasTerra, RWE, Essent, the Barents Institute, E.On Ruhrgas and Gaz de France.
