EDIAAL is an Energy Delta Institute programme that aims to gather, edit and make available independent knowledge on the role of gas in the transition to a low carbon economy. The main purpose of the project is to enhance the economic position of the northern provinces of the Netherlands and their positioning as the “Energy Valley.” Within the framework of EDIAAL, EDI sets up accessible training programmes, conferences and network meetings and makes relevant information on energy available to public and private market parties in the northern part of the Netherlands.
The EDIaal project is partly made possible by a subsidy granted by The Northern Netherlands Provinces (SNN). EDIaal is co-financed by the European Union, European Fund for Regional Development, The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation and Peaks in the Delta.
Target groups
The northern provinces of the Netherlands are quickly developing into the “Energy Valley” of northwest Europe. Successful initiatives are emerging in all kinds of energy-related fields. EDIAAL supports this development by gathering and disseminating relevant, freely accessible and independent information on energy and energy transition. Thanks to EDIAAL, interested parties are continuously updated on recent developments, which aids in decision making e.g. about new investments or policy measures.
EDIAAL primarily intends to support and provide information to the business world in order to enable the northern Netherlands to quickly develop into the ultimate “Energy Valley” in northwestern Europe. It offers opportunities to entrepreneurs and, in order to capitalize on such opportunities, they need knowledge. EDIAAL translates complex issues related to energy and energy transition into comprehensible, accessible and user-friendly information that enables entrepreneurs to make sound business decisions. EDIAAL is noteworthy to all companies that are interested in the opportunities energy transition implies, irrespective of their size and the sector in which they operate. A bank, for instance, will often be the first organisation to which a farmer will turn to if he wants to invest in a bio-digester. The knowledge and information EDIAAL makes available will enable banks to provide their customers with the best possible advice regarding such sustainable investments.
Policy makers and consultants
EDIAAL also focuses on all players professionally involved in the corporate world, either directly or indirectly, such as education and research institutes, public bodies, NGOs, interest groups and service professionals. They too will have access to the public electronic information provided by EDIAAL and may approach EDI for information, including tailor-made information packages, courses or seminars.
