EDI’s Executive Master of Gas Business Management (MGBM) is designed to contribute to the development of your management skills in the gas business. This Executive Master will deepen your knowledge of the dynamics of the various parts of the gas value chain and learn you the ways to do business in the gas industry.

With the MGBM you learn how to assist your company in facing future challenges and help gas to become the fuel of choice for the future. You are invited to take one of the challenges of your company with you and write a thesis addressing this challenge, thus creating immediate value for your organization.

At whom is the Master of Gas Business Management targeted?

You are a professional who operates in the energy industry or a related area. You are looking to deepen and broaden your knowledge of the gas value chain which will enable you to take the next step in your career. Also if you have a managerial, academic or specialized background, you will find this Master instrumental for your further career within the energy industry. You have an academic background and multiple years of experience. Also, you have a working knowledge of both business and technical English.

The programme structure

Which topics are addressed during this executive master?

The MGBM focuses on strategic management, business development, structures and positions in the natural gas business in context of the international energy markets, the interplay between governments and industry and the changing policy environment.
The Master programme consists of:

  • Three Master Modules – each Module will be concluded with a position paper. It is also possible to enrol in the separate individual Master Modules. The three modules are:

              - Natural Gas Strategy Course

              - Gas Market Regulation Course

              - Large Energy Projects Course

  • Summer Academy – giving you the opportunity to reconsolidate all the learning experiences of the MGBM with your professional coaches in several 1- or 2- day courses during one week.
  • Master thesis and examination – Your thesis will address a subject that is relevant for your organization. An academic tutor and a tutor within your organization will be assigned to you.

Which experts do you get a chance to exchange views with during this master programme?

The key lecturer for the first module the Natural Gas Strategy Course will be Dick de Jong (former Director of Shell’s Gas & Power global business and currently fellow at Clingendael International Energy Programme). A carefully selected group of leading experts on the European and global gas industry will ensure the high quality of this course.

Location
The Master Modules will be offered on enticing international locations (such as Moscow, Copenhagen etcetera) relevant to the course topics - thus enhancing the intellectual and cultural experience.

Study load
The Executive MGBM degree is earned on the basis of successful completion of the 24-month programme. In addition to the 35 course days of the sessions, substantial study load of private study will be required. During the off-campus periods you will stay in contact with lecturers, thesis coaches and participants via Internet and e-mail, while working on assignments and your thesis project. The on-off campus modular structure of this Executive Master programme allows you to maintain your home base and professional job while working towards and internationally recognised degree.

Investment
€ 34.500 - (including examination costs for all modules, Summer Academy, notice that acommodation costs and VAT are excluded)

Examination and Certification
Upon successfully completing all Master Modules, the Summer Academy and the Master thesis the participant will graduate as an Executive Master of Gas Business Management, a title issued by the University of Groningen.
