On the 8th of September 2011 Impulse!, Essent’s Young Professional Organisation EDI and Essent co-organized a young professional event about the recent developments in the utility sector. Around 60 young professionals from the energy sector gathered to discuss the most pressing issues within the energy sector.
Participants had a chance to take a ride in an electric car. In addition Essent organized a guided tour through the Amer power plant.
Nina Skorupska, Chief Technical Officer of Essent shared her vision of the future of the energy sector. To complete the picture, Theo Fens, one of EDI’s key lecturers and associate professor of Delft University of Technology gave a very interesting insight in the developments on the right side of the energy value chain. Topics like home energy management, smart grids, decentralized generation and electric transportation were extensively discussed.
Participants were challenged in the form of a business case to combine these topics to ensure a prominent position for utilities in these new markets. Ten teams competed against each other to come up with the best solution. The solutions were then judged by a jury consisting of Theo Fens, Ivor Kusters and Wim Willeboer.
This young professional event is one of many events developed and organized by Energy Delta Institute in order to provide a platform for young energy professionals to meet their peers and share experience.
