EDI firmly believes in the power of networks, for the simple reason that a network is made up of more minds and is therefore a source of greater collective knowledge. Furthermore, a knowledge network develops and disseminates new knowledge more quickly and efficiently. This is why EDI maintains a formalised network of knowledge partners. These partners either contribute to the development of EDI's training programmes, or invite their experts to lecture on the programmes.
The Clingendael International Energy Program (CIEP) is affiliated to the Netherlands Institute for International Relations, Clingendael. As an independent forum for governments and politicians, non-governmental organisations, the private sector, various media, and others who are interested in developments in the energy sector, CIEP organises seminars, conferences and round-table discussions. The CIEP research and activities agenda focuses on three themes: regulation of the European Union's energy markets (oil, gas, and electricity), the international economic and geopolitical aspects of oil and gas markets (particularly with respect to security of supply for the European Union) and energy & sustainable development. CIEP staff also gives lectures on various subjects, in a variety of courses and training programmes, including EDI programmes.

Energy Delta Research Centre (EDReC)
The Energy Delta Gas Research (EDGaR), a Dutch research consortium of eleven enterprises and research institutes, coordinates the realization of scientific, applied and technological researches on gas and sustainability. Participants to the consortium come from the industry — Gasunie, GasTerra, Kiwa, Enexis, Liander and Stedin — and scientific institutions — ECN, University of Groningen, Delft University of Technology and Hanze University of Applied Sciences.

Energy Markets and Policies Institute (EPPEN) is a think-tank, which is based in Ankara, engaging about energy related issues. EPPEN targets to provide contribution to energy issues via qualitative researches and studies that are about energy markets and world energy security. With the dialogue environment set out by EPPEN university-industry-public cooperation is envisaged to be established.

Gubkin Russian State University of Oil & Gas, Russia's principal higher educational institute for petroleum engineering, originated from the Faculty of Petroleum at the Moscow Mining Academy. Over the last seventy years, the University developed a broad research capacity, leading to the development of many new methods of exploration, production, transportation, refining and processing of hydrocarbons. The Moscow State Institute of International Relations is one of the oldest universities in Russia that prepares specialists in various aspects of international relations. Founded in 1944, it currently has over 5,000 students originating from Russia and over 64 foreign nations. Over the years, MGIMO trained in excess of 30,000 students including 5,000 foreign students. The President of Azerbaijan Ilham G. Aliev, and the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, and Mongolia are well-known alumni of MGIMO.

Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES)
The Oxford Institute for Energy Studies is a centre for advanced research into the social science areas of energy issues. Its aim is to promote dialogue between consumers and producers, government and industry, and academics and decisions makers in order to gain a more informed understanding of the factors that influence international energy markets. Research encompasses the economics of petroleum, oil, gas, and nuclear as well as solar power and other renewable forms of energy; the politics and sociology of energy; international relations of producing and consuming nations; and the economics and politics of the environment in its relationship with energy.
