2014 - International Supervisory Board and International Partner Meeting
On the 15th of April 2014 the International Supervisory Board Meeting (ISB), hosted by GasTerra, was held in Groningen, The Netherlands. This annual meeting takes place in order to discuss and justify the strategy and developments of Energy Delta Institute (EDI). Representatives of the founding partners and the board members of EDI were present during this meeting.
Mr. Fennema (new CEO of N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie) was appointed to chair this year’s ISB meeting. From OAO Gazprom Mr. Khomyakov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, was accompanied by Mrs. Tokareva, Mrs. Inzhevatova, Mr. Zherebnov Mr. Petchenkin, Mr. Ivanov and Mr. Martynov.
The following ISB members were present: Mr. Lankhorst (CEO GasTerra B.V.) and Mr. Dekker (VP JV Governance Shell). The executive board of EDI; Mr. Vermeulen (Director Business Development, Gasunie) Mr. Sterken (Rector, University of Groningen) and Mr. Verhoef (Professor, University of Groningen). Representatives from EDI; Mr. Dam (President), Mr. Fliek (Director) and Mr. Jepma (Professor and Scientific director EDIaal).
After a fruitful meeting in the morning the program continued at the Groninger Museum where affiliated, associated , knowledge and business partners of EDI joined for a lunch and a guided tour through the Museum with the theme “The Student in Groningen 1614-2014’.Parts of the afternoon program were combined with the festivities of the University of Groningen to celebrate its 400th anniversary.
The afternoon program started at the Aula of the Academy Building of the University of Groningen with interesting speeches of Professor Garretsen and Professor Noheda about respectively Globalization 4∞ and Piezoelectric Materials. Afterwards the program continued at the Prinsenhof Groningen were Mr. Blakey and Mr. Kramer both gave inspiring speeches.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Khomyakov was awarded Honorary Fellow EDI for his outstanding contribution to the development of EDI for several years. “It is now more than 10 years that we closely cooperate with Gazprom in the sphere of personnel training and knowledge exchange in the energy industry. And today it is my pleasure to announce that Mr. Khomyakov, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom Management Committee is rewarded with an EDI Honorary Fellow title with which we express our warmest gratitude for his input into the development of EDI, which is hard to overestimate. And thus I express my hope that our further cooperation will strengthen from day to day and together we will provide the industry with young and competent professionals who will be ready to meet the challenges of the changing energy world,” said Mr. Dam.
“Today not only does EDI provide an educational milieu for training the oil & gas industry professionals, it also serves as the base for creating a professional community to share experience and knowledge in the energy sector. We highly appreciate EDI as the unparalleled educational project uniting the potential of the leading European oil & gas companies and academic knowledge of the oldest European university,” said Mr. Khomyakov.
