2015 - International Youth Day, St.Petersburg
EDI took part in the International Youth Day in St.Petersburg
EDI has taken part in the organisation of the Youth day: ‘Dialogue of Generations’ jointly with Gazprom and St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON). The Youth Day took place on the 5th - 8th of October 2015 in the framework of the 5th International Gas Forum in St. Petersburg, and it was attended by nearly 150 energy students from Russia, Germany and the Netherlands. EDI has sponsored the Dutch team of six talented graduates from RuG, Delft University and University of Bergen. As part of the International Energy Contest: ‘Energy of Today and Tomorrow’ the team had to prepare and present their solution to the case study and defend it to the members of the respected jury. The jury consisted of business professionals from Gazprom, Engie, EON and Gasterra, professors from Gubkin University of Oil and Gas and UNECON. The presentation of the Dutch team was very creative, and the jury asked many challenging questions. As a result, the dutch ‘Team Orange’ became the fourth in the competition. The grand prix – a one week visit to the gas field Zapolyarnoe of Gazprom,– went to the Russian Team ‘Neft’, represented by students of Gubkin University of Oil and Gas, Unecon and Technical University of Tomsk.
Among another events that took place during the Youth Day was an informal ‘Off-tie’meeting with CEO’s of various energy companies. During this event Mr Miller of Gazprom gave a key-note speech and the CEOs of Gasunie, EON, VNG and Shell Russia spoke to students and answered their questions about the challenges and demand for young talent in the energy industry today. The two interactive workshops on the topics ‘Gas is the fuel of the Future’ and ‘European Gas Hubs’ (the latter organised by EDI), were closing the business part of the programme. The gala-party in the night-club Jagger was a closing highlight of the event.
The International Youth Day will become an annual event under the umbrella of International Business Congress (IBC) with the support of its company members.
