Get to know all the essentials of a European transmission system operator and what the energy transition means for them
Europe’s natural gas transmission system operators (TSO) are the vascular system of the continent’s gas value chain. Thanks to them natural gas can flow between European countries and play an important role in the European energy mix. What is often taken for granted and considered as a basic service, in reality is a complex activity that is subject to many dynamic regulatory, business and environmental changes.
A two-morning virtual programme has been envisioned to introduce the participants to the essentials of European gas TSOs and the dynamic regulatory and business environment they find themselves in. It will give the attendee an understanding of all responsibilities and capabilities of a TSO while experts from both the industry and academia institutions share their insights on the tasks of TSOs and how this is affected by the energy transition.
Furthermore, participants will gain an understanding of the wider European TSO context and its stakeholder landscape. The programme also deals with the consequences for TSOs of changing domestic gas production patterns, the increasing role of LNG, liquid spot markets, the introduction of sustainable gases and balancing issues.
