This summer, the European Commission released two impactful strategies on Hydrogen and Sector Integration, unveiling the decarbonisation potential of hydrogen, being easily stored and transported, molecules will be key in decarbonising our economy.
As highlighted by – Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans, the existing gas infrastructure represents a valuable asset for the development of the hydrogen value chain. It also offers a unique opportunity to maintain and expend Europe’s technological leadership.
Today, the European Gas operators are taking action in developing multiple innovative technologies. They support the effort of the European Commission. 11 TSOs developed the European Hydrogen Backbone (EHB) a project connecting initial hydrogen clusters across the EU.
ENTSOG recently published a 2050 Roadmap Action Plan, which considers market and technical perspectives on hydrogen and low carbon gases and outlines the actions needed to ensure that gas grids are enablers and integrators of the future energy system.
Our speakers: Niko Bosnjak (ONTRAS) will present the EHB plan and the upcoming steps, Sara Piskor (ENTSOG) and Roxana Caliminte (GIE) will share lights on the role of the EU gas infrastructure in upscaling hydrogen technologies via transmission, storages and LNG Terminals.
In cooperation with Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) and European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG).
